The best site of retro and new games for the whole family
Looking for a fun videogame website? Keep reading, I’ll tell you more about it.
Recently a relative wrote to me to ask me about some free online games for his kiddos and he wanted them to not be violent or have tons of ads during this pandemic. To be honest I did not know what to answer him because we have been playing Just Dance or Disney games for a long time. But I wanted to do a little research and I would like to share with you my findings of what exists today.
Kids & Games
One thing you should know is that online games can also be educational, fun and they can activate your brain for problem-solving skills and they work amazing as a stress relief.
Another thing that might be surprising is that kids that play video games are most likely to be a social person in the future, because of all the team collaboration that is happening in the games and the relationships.
First of all, I did what everyone else did; Searching on Google, after at least 40 minutes browsing various sites, I realized that there is not much originality, that is; even though there are millions of gaming sites, most of them repeat the same games.
So I decided to summarize my recommendations in the following 3 sites:
Miniclip
This site is one of the oldest in terms of games, it has had to be adapted over time, without a doubt its strongest point may be the variety of online games. Being one of the veterans at gaming sites, over the years they have amassed an extensive catalog of games, although, for the most part, they can be a bit repetitive. On the other hand, they still keep many games in Flash technology, which means that many games are not compatible with a modern browser or with iOS or Android mobile devices, it is necessary to download an App to be able to play.
✔ Pros:
- Online multiplayer games.
✘ Cons:
- It cannot be played on mobile devices unless you download its App.
- Lots of publicity, some can be very invasive.
- Playability, some games can be uncomfortable even on a computer
- Although it has a lot of variety, most games are aimed at a larger audience.
Addicting games
To tell the truth, I did not know this place. However, when researching I noticed that it is one of the most popular. Something that I noticed on this site that I found peculiar; is that you can create an account, I suppose that it will save your history, although I consider that it is more linked to the membership system they offer.
✔ Pros:
- Online multiplayer games
- It has more than 40 categories to choose from.
✘ Cons:
- It cannot be played on mobile devices.
- A lot of advertising, too invasive, so much that you can’t play.
- You must pay a membership to remove advertising and be able to play on mobile
- Although it has a lot of variety, most games are aimed at a larger audience.
Plays.org
On this site plays.org, you can find a wide variety of games for the whole family. I really liked its super uncomplicated interface, as well as the ease of playing on my mobile device without having to download anything, additionally, I loved the fact that the site is 100% ad-free.
✔ Pros:
- It has more than 50 categories to choose from.
- The games are made with HTML5 technology, that is, they are compatible to play on mobile devices either iOS or Android without having to download anything.
- It has a category of specific games for mobile.
- It has no advertising, therefore the browsing experience is super pleasant.
- You don’t have to pay anything to play.
- The categories are somewhat balanced, you can find games for preschool children, educational as well as for adults.
Personally, I spent my time with a game that is about managing a supermarket, the truth is that despite its simplicity it is very addictive. I have to say, after 15 minutes I was already a super manager of my small supermarket😅, but don’t believe me. Check it out yourselves on https://plays.org/tap-supermarket/.
Another game that can make you want to play again and again is 2 Minutes to Escape, in which you have to run, jump and dodge bullets in order to get to the exit, everything as fast as possible! I am so sure any kid would love this challenge!
Taking into consideration all the above mentioned, personally, I stay with Plays, I like the idea of having a site that offers educational games from the preschool level, to more elaborate games. All of this either on the computer or from the comfort of my cell phone without invasive virus-prone advertising.
And you, have you used any of these sites?
